Water Resource Intelligent Monitoring System Jointly Developed by Shendong Coal and Universities Reaches the International Leading Level

Recently, the project of “Research and Demonstration of Key Technology for Water Resource Conservation and Intelligent Monitoring in Northwest Ultra-large Mining Areas” jointly completed by institutions including Shendong Coal and China University of Mining and Technology passed the appraisal of the expert panel of China National Coal Association (CNCA), with project achievements reaching the international leading level.

The project innovatively put forward the dynamic data modeling method based on tree-type atomic model, and successfully developed the three-dimensional visualized mine water intelligent management system consisting of BIM+VR+IoT (internet of things). The intelligent water recycling platform developed by the project integrates real-time monitoring of water quality, intelligent scheduling of pipeline network, optimization of wastewater treatment and other functional modules, and realizes the digital control of the whole process of treating 60,000 tonnes of mine water daily. The Company has made a breakthrough in establishing a water quality intelligent evaluation model based on back propagation neural network and an evaluation system for hierarchical water-conserving irrigation, forming a mine water recycling evaluation method and technical system covering 11 indicators in four categories. The intelligent monitoring platform developed is equipped with core functions including multi-source data fusion, intelligent early warning feeds, and three-dimensional dynamic display, with monitoring efficiency increased by 45%.

At present, the project has built three demonstrations in the Shendong mining area, forming a “mining-disposal-supply-utilization” whole chain of intelligent water management system. After third-party testing, the reuse rate of mine water reaches more than 95%, saving 4.38 million tonnes of fresh water annually and reducing wastewater emissions by 17.52 million tonnes, which provides a replicable and applicable solution for the conservation of water resources in arid mining areas.
