Incorporated on November 8, 2004, China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (“China Shenhua” for short) is the only subsidiary of China Energy Investment Corporation that is dual-listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Shanghai Stock Exchange after respective initial public offerings (IPO) on June 15, 2005, and October 9, 2007. As of the end of 2020, China Shenhua had total assets of 558.4 billion yuan, a market capitalization of US$52.3 billion, and a staff of 75,000 employees.

The company is involved in six business sectors: coal, electricity, railways, port handling, shipping, and coal-based chemicals.
