On October 31, the Mizhi County’s Thousand Villages Photovoltaic Power Demonstration Project assisted by Shendong Coal successfully connected to the grid for power generation.
In 2024, Shendong Coal allocated RMB 18.2 million assistance funds to establish this photovoltaic power demonstration project in Mizhi County, with a total installed capacity of approximately 3.63 MW. With an innovative operational model of “power generation above the solar panels, and crops cultivation below the solar panels”, it is expected to run for about 25 years. Upon completion, the project is anticipated to generate around 6.1 million kWh annually, providing an estimated annual revenue of RMB 2.04 million.
Following a principle of “unified planning of township/sub-district, segmented construction, individual village allocation”, the project implements a collaborative approach featuring joint construction and revenue sharing among villages. Each village is projected to receive at least RMB 100,000 annually, and the revenue will be offered to support local collective industries, public welfare jobs, dividends for collective members, and assistance for those in need, ensuring that related village collectives earn an annual income of more than RMB 100,000, covering all the villages with financial difficulties of the collective economy across Mizhi County, to facilitate rural revitalization in the county.
