On August 3, Railway Equipment Cangzhou Branch of CHN Energy Group and Mass Organization Work Department of Cangzhou Bohai New Area jointly launched Campaign for Drowning Prevention Volunteer Service and Communication, which was themed with “Together for Youth Self-protection”.
During the campaign, young volunteers were invited by Railway Equipment Cangzhou Branch to hand out leaflets in Beikehu Park and Huimin Community in Cangzhou Bohai New Area, and explained a series of drowning prevention to children and their parents. The volunteers actively urged parents to earnestly fulfill safety supervision responsibilities during summer vacation. For parents, they imparted that parents should know “4 Ws” about their children, namely where to go, who to go, what to do, and when to return. For children, the volunteers also promoted “Six Don’ts”: (1) Don’t swim in rivers without permission; (2) Don’t swim with classmate(s) without permission; (3) Don’t swim without parental guidance; (4) Don’t swim in unfamiliar waters; (5) Don’t swim in waters without safety facilities; (6) Don’t go into the waters to blindly rescue. These contents were quite useful for the both to foster the correct safety awareness and protection awareness.
Afterwards, in the police office of Huimin Community, police officers from Xincun Coast Police Station explained the first aid knowledge to the volunteers, the children and their parents. Having jointly acquired the knowledge and skills, they further learned more about the procedures.
Campaign for Drowning Prevention Volunteer Service and Communication not only effectively reminded guardians to take responsibility for supervision and prevent the children from going to the waters and playing alone, but also enhanced the children and their parents’ awareness of drowning prevention and self-protection ability during summer vacation. Furthermore, the spirit of voluntary service was vigorously carried forward, the social responsibility was vigorously fulfilled, and the social reputation of Railway Equipment Cangzhou Branch was elevated.
