Recently, the second propylene distillation tower for the olefin separation unit of the upgraded demonstration project undertaken by Baotou Chemical, a subsidiary of China Shenhua, successfully completed its hoisting. This marks a significant breakthrough in the installation of the project's main equipment, and lays a solid foundation for the project's timely completion and commissioning.
The second propylene rectification tower, standing 115 meters high and weighing 1,600 tons, is both the tallest and heaviest single piece of core equipment in the project. It also represents the tallest and heaviest propylene tower using the front-end deethanization process in the methanol-to-olefins industry. Assembly and welding of the equipment began in December 2025. After 181 days of continuous intensive work, all procedures, including assembly, calibration and debugging, anti-corrosion and insulation, and auxiliary installation, were completed to high standards. During the hoisting operation, management personnel provided on-site command and supervision, strictly adhering to the specialized hoisting plan. The work process was meticulously detailed, with responsibilities clearly assigned to each position. A unified command structure was implemented, with dedicated supervision and continuous monitoring. Real-time site condition monitoring ensured strict control over each operational step, and the entire hoisting process was completed in six hours.
