On March 10, the first J8572 train successfully delivered 4,320 tonnes of coal for stable supplies via the Zhunchi Line of the Xinshuo Railway to Shuohuang Railway, marking the official operation of the coal handling platform at Wochang Station on the Zhunchi Line of Xinshuo Railway, injecting new impetus into the Company’s integrated transportation services.
The coal handling platform at Wochang Station is an existing supporting facility of the newly-built Wochang Station of Zhunchi Railway. Covering an area of 77,500 square meters, the coal handling platform is designed to accommodate direct entry and exit for 10,000-tonne heavy-haul trains and loading operations. The road on the east side of the platform is connected with National Highway G336 of Tianjin-Shenmu Line, providing convenient transportation that effectively promotes the implementation of the “cargo carried by train instead of truck” policy. The platform is equipped with a loading system and a coal storage shed with plans for related expansion and unloading areas. Phase I of the project has a designed shipment capacity of 3 million tonnes per year, with the phase II expected to boost the total loading capacity to 6.5 million tonnes per year.
The successful commissioning of this coal handling platform will fully leverage the transportation and resource advantages of northern Shanxi Province, and effectively enhance the surrounding coal source expansion and attractiveness of the Company’s railway network, thus fostering a more efficient and smoother modern logistics system, and reducing social logistics costs in the area.
