As of December 6, Baotou Chemical has achieved a cumulative production of 8.524 million tonnes of polyolefin products since the start of its commercial operations, surpassing the milestone of eight million tonnes and providing strong support for the coal chemical industry’s transformation toward high-end, diversified, and low-carbon development.

The Baotou Coal-to-Olefins Project, operated by Baotou Chemical, is the world’s first mega-scale industrial demonstration project for coal-based methanol-to-olefins production. With coal as the raw material, the project employs an advanced process route involving coal gasification to methanol, methanol-to-olefins conversion, and polymerization of olefins to produce polyolefins. This modern coal chemical engineering project integrates technology-intensive, capital-intensive, and talent-intensive elements, pioneers a new coal-to-olefins industry in China and opens up an innovative pathway for coal-based energy and chemical industries, laying a solid foundation for the development of the country’s modern coal chemical industry.

Committed to the philosophy of “stable production is high production”, the Company has refined its annual safety production goals and implemented a dual prevention mechanism for risk control and hazard investigation. Focusing on risk pre-control management system, the Company has enforced strict supervision of production processes and established a three-tier management and control framework at the center, unit, and project levels. It has also emphasized oversight at all stages of production, clearly defining the responsibilities of job supervisors and star-level safety monitors to ensure comprehensive safety management throughout the production process. With the goal of “zero accidents, zero injuries, and zero risks”, the Company has continued to enhance the management of major hazard sources and risk governance. A technical task team has been established to analyze challenges and deficiencies in safety and environmental protection and it has made great efforts in areas including major hazard sources management, dual prevention mechanism construction, safety training and safety equipment upgrading, to resolve critical bottlenecks and difficulties hindering safe operations.
