On November 28, it was announced that three QC projects from Tianjin Port—Improving Wastewater Recovery Ratio in Coal Terminal Areas, Research and Development of Dust Online Monitoring and Intelligent Control System, and Research and Development of Intelligent Monitoring System for High-risk Operation in Tianjin Port—won gold medals at the 49th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC). Presented fully in English on the global stage, these projects stood out for their excellence in quality control and exceptional performance during the Convention. The gold medals highlight the vibrancy of the Company’s grass-root level employees in quality improvement and innovation initiatives, showcasing China’s commitment to high-quality development.

Improving Wastewater Recovery Ratio in Coal Terminal Areas increased wastewater recovery rates by 56% in coal terminal areas, enabling the recycling of coal wastewater within the network. The QC project reduced water consumption and established a clean, economical, eco-friendly and efficient wastewater treatment mechanism, demonstrating great significance of the Company’s “14th Five-Year Plan” environmental goal for energy conservation and emissions reduction. Research and Development of Dust Online Monitoring and Intelligent Control System developed a “1+N” intelligent dust monitoring system tailored for Tianjin Port, alongside an innovative dust radar-to-large machine linkage reverse control technology. The QC project introduced a dust traceability algorithm based on “1+N” intelligent dust monitoring, and enabled application of dust laser radar in bulk cargo port areas, achieving precise identification in dust sources, and establishing a rapid response mechanism for dust monitoring and control. Research and Development of Intelligent Monitoring System for High-risk Operation in Tianjin Port integrated real-time production processes with the scheduling of cleaning and production resources including spray gun stations, sprinkler trucks, and cleaning personnel. This integration fostered innovations in Internet of Things (IoT) and big data-driven smart management, intelligent water spray management, dust traceability algorithm based on “1+N” intelligent dust monitoring, and dust radar-to-large machine linkage reverse control technology, contributing to the intelligence of environment monitoring, resource allocation, and assisted decision-making processes.

ICQCC, jointly initiated by 14 quality organizations, including the China Association for Quality, the Singapore Productivity Association, and the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, is a highly esteemed international convention in the field of quality management. Known as the “Olympics of Quality”, ICQCC is celebrated for its broad participation, diverse industry representation, and strong cohesion. This year’s convention brought together 1,085 quality control (QC) teams from 14 countries and regions to exchange insights.
