Recently, China’s first green methanol-powered bulk carrier, Guoneng Changjiang 01, departed from Changhong Harbor of Jiangyin City carrying 9,151 tonnes of coal for the CHN Energy Tongling Power Generation Co., Ltd., marking the official commencement of its operation.
CHN Energy Ocean Shipping (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. has seized opportunities in the evolving shipping industry, injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of Yangtze River shipping industry by putting the Guoneng Changjiang 01 into operation. Powered by a methanol/diesel dual-fuel electric propulsion system, Guoneng Changjiang 01 can dynamically adjust the number of generator units based on varying operational conditions to optimize power efficiency. It has been awarded additional marks by the China Classification Society, including “Green Ship, Intelligent Engine Room, Intelligent Energy Efficiency Management, and Intelligent Integration Platform”.
The launch of the Guoneng Changjiang 01 not only advances the steady progress of the shipping industry toward green and intelligent development, improving both quality and innovation, but also enhances vessel operational efficiency, reducing gaseous pollutant emissions and providing robust support for the high-quality development of the Yangtze Economic Belt.
