Recently, the Basic Requirements for Condition-based Maintenance of Heavy-haul Railway Freight Car (T/CCTAS 139—2025), a group technical standard formulated by Railway Equipment Company, was officially released by the China Communications and Transportation Association, marking CHN Energy’s achievement in establishing a technical standard system for intelligent operation & condition-based maintenance of heavy-haul railway freight cars, advancing the reform of maintenance system for such cars, and filling a gap in China’s technical standards for condition-based maintenance of heavy-haul railway freight car.
The group technical standard, compiled under the leadership of Railway Equipment Company, encapsulates years of scientific research and technological achievements as well as practical maintenance experience in the data-driven intelligent operation and condition-based maintenance of heavy-haul railway freight cars, mainly covering general principles for condition-based maintenance, maintenance schedule setting and assessment, condition-based maintenance systems, car inspections, information management, and technical management. The standard introduces basic concepts of condition detection, condition evaluation, and condition-based maintenance for the first time in China, outlines the basic requirements for setting and assessing condition-based maintenance schedule and system for heavy-haul railway freight cars to make railway car maintenance more standard, formal as well as systematic, reduce instances of excessive repairs, and strengthen critical maintenance and precise condition-based maintenance, thus improving the intelligent maintenance capabilities of railway freight cars and optimizing the layout of inspection operations.
