Recently, the Notice on the Typical Application Cases of AI Empowering New Industrialization by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Office, released 151 exemplary cases showcasing AI’s role in advancing new industrialization. Notably, the Railway Equipment Company’s Intelligent Maintenance Application for Heavy-haul Railway Freight Cars Based on Image Recognition Technology was successfully included, marking it the only case in the freight car maintenance sector nationwide.
Leveraging integrated operation, the case fully utilizes the expertise of Railway Equipment Company as the largest railway self-owned freight car management company in China. By employing the intelligent TFDS (Trouble of Moving Freight Car Detection System) image recognition technology as its technical foundation, the case delves into areas including machine vision, image recognition, and large model applications to build an algorithmic framework for freight car maintenance. The deep learning and image processing technologies enable the case to achieve self-recognition algorithms for typical freight car faults, online model updates and real-time fault diagnosis, establishing an efficient and intelligent detection system for railway freight cars, and helping to reduce labor costs as well as alleviating work pressure on staff. Furthermore, it improves the quality and efficiency of train inspections, serving as an exploratory demonstration for the intelligent development of TFDS and guiding the transition of train inspection operations toward fully automated identification.
