On December 10, the No.1 Unit of Jiangxi Shenhua Jiujiang Company successfully put the national first digital and intelligent stable combustion system for one-million- kilowatt unit into operation, marking another milestone in China’s coal-fired power generation sector.

The digital and intelligent stable combustion system under commissioning is jointly developed by CHN Energy Jiangxi Electric Power Co., Ltd., CHN Energy Shenhua Jiujiang Power Generation Co., Ltd., Yantai Longyuan Power Technology Co., Ltd., and CHN Energy New Energy Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. One of its core innovative technologies, the image flame detection, follows the Technical Specification for Flame Detector System of Boiler led by CHN Energy. This IEC international standard fills the gaps in China’s combustion flame detection in pulverized coal boilers, with its technology promoting the progress of China’s coal-fired boiler flame detection. The system also integrates a new generation of digital switching power supply and intelligent stable combustion technology, which can reduce harmonic interference by about 50%, and realize the first application of numerous core technologies on a million-kilowatt coal-fired unit, marking a major landmark in the relevant fields in China with remarkable significance of industry demonstration and extensive application.

Compared with the traditional infrared light and visible light flame detection technology, the digital image flame detection has increased the detection view angle by 18 times, the amount of information by more than one million times, and the transmission distance by 200 times. The successful application of the new system reduces the comprehensive energy consumption by 20%, which can improve the digital and intelligent operation level of the unit, and save RMB 4.6 million per 500 hours compared with the micro-oil ignition technology.
