On November 26, the “crystalline aluminum chloride low-temperature hydrothermal purification technology” developed by Zhungeer Energy was certified as the first of its kind in China by China National Coal Association. The technology also leads its counterparts around the world.

Developed by Zhungeer Energy in collaboration with Northeastern University, this new impurity removal technology solved the technical bottlenecks for acid aluminum chloride impurity removal and can remove impurities like kalium, sodium, calcium and magnesium, achieving seamless connection with the previous one-step acid dissolution method. Breakthroughs have been made after the technology passed lab tests, pilot trials and trial mass operation. This helps accelerate the application of Zhungeer Energy’s high-alumina fly ash integrated industrialized utilization demonstration project, with a capacity of 300,000 tons a year.

Zhungeer Energy has always followed the principle of circular economy featuring “energy saving and resource recycling”. Relying on the coal resources rich in aluminum and gallium in mines  under Zhungeer Energy, the company has started research on fly ash integrated utilization since 2004, in order to maximally utilize solid waste like fly ash and reduce pollutant emissions. Besides, it has vigorously carried forward the studies of key technologies such as “energy source, grid, load and storage integration” and relevant demonstration projects, creatively introduced the nano hydrocarbon-fueled power generation and photovoltaic power generation to provide energy for fly ash acid extraction of aluminum chloride. This makes electrolytic aluminum a green, low-carbon, and future-oriented new material for energy storage, and pushes forward the transformation and upgrading of coal enterprises to achieve green, low-carbon and high-quality development and help the country realize its goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
