On September 15, the unmanned truck marshalling safety demonstration project for open-cut mines in extremely cold and complex climate passed the safety assessment and sci-tech performance appraisal by the acceptance panel in Baorixile open-cut coal mine. The panel was of the opinion that the technology has reached the world-class level.
The project was officially launched in May 2020. By using China Mobile’s communication technologies, the coal mine realized 5GSA independent networking in the mining area, continuous operation of five-car groups in extremely cold weather, all-weather continuous operation, and none-safety-officer operation in the truck. After the severe test of working conditions and environments such as extremely cold and complex climate in the mining area, other tests were carried out such as autonomous marshalling operation of unmanned trucks, mixed operation of manned and unmanned mine trucks, and coordinated operation of various equipments. The safety, reliability and system stability of the project have been verified. Thus, a complete unmanned transportation operation system of unmanned trucks, excavators, remote bulldozers, road scrapers and other auxiliary operation vehicles in open-cut coal mines has been formed.
By the end of August 2021, unmanned trucks had been in operation in fleet for more than 50,000 kilometers, and the overburden removal volume was above 600,000 cubic meters, with an operation speed reaching the highest in the industry at 40 kilometers per hour, exceeding the manned requirement of 30 kilometers per hour. The availability rate of unmanned system is over 96.7 percent, and the comprehensive efficiency of unmanned transportation is no lower than that of manned transportation.
The unmanned truck marshalling safety demonstration project for open-cut coal mines in extremely cold and complex climate is an important measure adopted by Dayan Company (Baorixile Energy) to thoroughly implement the national new energy safety strategy of “pushing forward energy revolution in energy consumption, energy supply, energy technology innovation and pricing mechanisms and promoting energy cooperation.” It is also a pioneering demonstration project for practicing the concept of “the fewer people, the safer production” in coal operation, aiming to build a world-class intelligent coal mine.
