China’s first set of contour mining equipment, developed by Shendong Coal, was officially put into production on July 11, after the demonstration of the technical plans, relevant liaison work on supporting facilities, and the review of the design pictures. By drawing on and upgrading the technologies of the same type of equipment produced by other countries, Shendong developed this equipment which is a first in China capable of fully automated coal mining in thin coal beds.
The equipment will help improve coal mining technologies, increase the efficiency of the utilization of coal in thin coal beds, and reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in the mining process, which will facilitate the efforts to achieve China’s goal to peak carbon dioxide emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.
