As of July 18, the intelligent 10,000-ton heavy-haul train developed by Baoshen Railway Group under China Energy Investment Corporation had travelled 350,640 kilometers in total.
On October 16, 2019, China’s first intelligent 10,000-ton heavy-haul train officially started operation on the Shenmu-Shuozhou Railway. To realize the integration of automatic recognition, decision-making and execution, the train was designed to be equipped with technologies regarding intelligent video recognition, long-range radar detection, differential positioning based on BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, automatic collection of weather information, and intelligent frequency conversion. With these cutting-edge technologies, the train is capable of autonomous operations such as waking up the locomotive, coupling, wagon connection, starting the locomotive, safe driving, parking, shunting and marshalling according to the dispatching plans. The train marks that Baoshen Railway Group has entered the era of intelligence in the development of heavy-haul railway.
During the testing process of the intelligent driving technologies, the company made an emergency plan and organized a professional team to guarantee safe and smooth operation of the locomotive. The team supervised the whole-day tests on the train. After continuous technological upgrading, the train was liable enough and could adapt to multiple driving conditions. After nearly two years of trial and improvement, the intelligent driving technologies has been put into normal operation.
