Shendong Coal’s Technological Innovation Project Won National First Prize

The Chinese Workers’ Technical Association announced that the Integrated Collaborative Control Technology for Variable Frequency Drive, Tensioning and Protection of Belt Conveyors developed by Shendong Coal Belt Conveyor Company won the first prize in the 2025 Workers’ Technological Innovation Achievements. It injected strong impetus into the high-quality development of Shendong with hardcore tech and innovation.

This innovative technology equipped belt conveyors with an “intelligent brain”, effectively addressing industry pains of the traditional belt conveyor’s three systems , namely drive, tensioning and protection, do not share information with each other and has caused delayed emergency response. Aiming to realize stability and safety in belt conveyor operation, the Shendong project team built a electromagnetic load-sensing automatic tensioning system and a smart drive system. It successfully address the pain of  operation instability  under the working condition of single-point drive for an ultra-long distance of 6,000 meters, providing a brand-new solution for the operation of similar equipment in the industry. Meanwhile, the team overcame the adaptive control problem under ±30% load fluctuation, achieving 0.1 second response. It released tension in advance by using free parking time and reduced parking tension by over 40%, effectively avoiding potential safety hazards including overspeed of the tensioning carriage.

Up to now, the project has won six invention patents and owns complete independent intellectual property rights, another demonstration of Shendong’s strong technological innovation capabilities and core competitiveness.
