At the recently held 3rd China Digital-intelligent Transportation Innovation and Development Conference, organized by the China Communications and Transportation Association, two submissions presented by China Shenhua, namely, Development of a Locomotive Remote Monitoring System for Heavy-haul Railway Line Environments and Integration and Application of Full-spatial Information Technology in Heavy-haul Railway Intelligent Maintenance, stood out among 217 applications. They were selected as typical cases of Digital Transformation in the Transportation Industry in China and were showcased at the Heavy-haul Railway Digital Transformation Thematic Forum.
The case Development of a Locomotive Remote Monitoring System for Heavy-haul Railway Line Environments addresses the need for proactive prevention and control of abnormal operating environmental conditions for heavy-haul trains. It comprehensively utilizes technologies such as Beidou positioning, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, information fusion, and wireless communication to deliver real-time video of key sections and important alarm information directly to the train cab. This provides drivers with a “clairvoyant” capability, significantly enhancing their ability to detect hazards and the efficiency of alarm response, thereby ensuring the operational safety of heavy-haul trains.
The case Integration and Application of Full-spatial Information Technology in Heavy-haul Railway Intelligent Maintenance is based on full-spatial information system technology. It constructs an integrated graphics-data-model spatial data foundation for heavy-haul railways and empowers their digital transformation through “digital reflection” technology. This has established a support platform for China Shenhua’s railway operations related to spatial information management, safety, decision-making, and emergency command. This technology has already been promoted and applied to cutting-edge projects such as the Batuta Intelligent Loading Station and High-Precision Track Measurement Equipment.
