On May 11, the Lean Management System, one of the “Digital Intelligence Shuohuang” data empowerment platforms, was officially launched after a year of trial operation. To date, it has intelligently processed 7,040 data tasks, contributing to 19 record-breaking achievements across 17 key transportation indicators of the Shuohuang Railway. Meanwhile, the operation & management & control system and the scheduled operation system have entered comprehensive trial phases, along with the official operation of the lean management system, marking the full application of the “Digital Intelligence Shuohuang” in enterprise management, and indicating a shift from traditional experience-driven management of personnel, equipment, and tangible business operations to data-driven management based on data perception, integration, algorithmic deduction, enabling more objective and precise management and providing a replicable and compatible model to upgrade traditional production-oriented enterprise management towards digital intelligence.
Following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directives during his inspection of Huanghua Port on May 11, 2023, Shuohuang Railway has prioritized digital transformation over the past two years and has established a comprehensive heavy-haul railway operation & management system covering “intelligent operation, intelligent equipment, intelligent operation & maintenance, intelligent safety, and intelligent management”, laying a solid foundation for building a smart, safe, efficient, eco-friendly, and healthy heavy-haul railway. This effort significantly promotes the digital transformation of China’s heavy-haul railway industry, giving full play to CHN Energy’s strength in the national mission of traditional industrial transformation.
Through information technologies and advanced digital and intelligent algorithms, the “Digital Intelligence Shuohuang” data empowerment platform integrates the “scheduled operation plan system”, “management & control plan system”, and “lean management system”. It has established four collaboration pathways: business coordination, management element synergy, risk control coordination, and decision-making coordination, forming a new work pattern of “strategic goal leadership, data-driven empowerment, and multi-business efficiency”, forming a healthy and intelligent railway system that enables Shuohuang Railway to operate, control, and make decisions independently and efficiently.
By 2024, with continued development and in-depth operation of the platform, Shuohuang Railway’s weekly transportation plan fulfillment rate has exceeded 98%, with the ratio of the maintenance work volume to the total gap period work volume increasing over 20%. The annual cargo volume surpassed 371 million tonnes, reaching a new record high. Maintenance material disposal time was reduced from 60 to 30 days, tendering and procurement cycles were shortened by an average of 18.5 days, and major and intermediate overhauls saved RMB 350 million, reducing investment by 25% while achieving the highest track quality to date. In addition, by deploying diverse locomotive types and traction methods flexibly, the Company generated energy savings of 287 million kWh and reduced CO2 emissions per RMB ten thousand of output by 31% compared with the target goal, achieving a win-win outcome for energy conservation and consumption reduction.
