On August 22, the “Bidirectional Heavy-Haul Transportation Exploration” Pilot Project under the Initiative to Build a Country with Great Transport Strength, undertaken by China Shenhua, successfully passed the acceptance test by the National Railway Administration. The inspection team conducted on-site verifications, listened to reports, reviewed documents, and engaged in inquiries and discussions, unanimously agreeing that the project had met its expected goals and approving it for completion.
In June 2021, the “Bidirectional Heavy-Haul Transportation Exploration” program was approved as a national pilot project under the initiative to build a country with great transport strength. After more than two years of implementation, the project developed an organizational plan for a logistics chain of bidirectional heavy-haul transportation and established an integrated operation and control system. With Huanghua, Tianjin, and Longkou Ports as hubs, it achieved the regular operation of three bidirectional heavy-haul transportation routes. The annual volume of bulk cargos carried by train instead of truck exceeded 20 million tonnes, and the comprehensive utilization efficiency of self-owned railways and ports increased by more than 10%. The project also realized large-scale “dual-pendulum” operations across railways, ports, and shipping, and formulated a replicable paradigm with advanced experiences for integrated bidirectional heavy-haul transport of the three sectors.
