On August 15, the first domestic profiling turnout grinding vehicle, co-developed by China Energy Railway Equipment Co., Ltd. and CRCC High-Tech Equipment Co. Ltd., completed its final assembly in Kunming City, Yunnan Province. The vehicle, assembled by the FCM-20K Profiling Turnout Grinding Vehicle project team under the joint efforts of the two companies, is in commissioning phase.
The profiling turnout full-coverage grinding technology represents one of the most advanced techniques in the mechanized rail maintenance industry. In alignment with CHN Energy’s new R&D approach of “insisting on independent innovation and harnessing collective wisdom”, China Energy Railway Equipment Co., Ltd. partnered with experts from CRCC High-Tech Equipment Co. Ltd. to develop the first profiling turnout grinding vehicle in China. This achievement signifies the company’s progression in rail maintenance technology from advanced equipment to sophisticated technology, and from fine grinding to precision grinding, marking a new stage of high-quality development. The new grinding vehicle boasts numerous advantages, including a more adaptable running gauge split-axle turnout grinding trolley, constant-speed permanent magnet motor running drive, a high-response grinding spindle system with dual-cylinder precision grinding control, and an eco-friendly grinding powder collection system. These edges overcome the technical bottlenecks of turnout grinding, allowing for precise grinding of railway turnouts as well as the maintenance and grinding of mainline rails – a revolutionary breakthrough in rail maintenance.
Following over a month of assembly, the team conducted comprehensive inspections and tests on the vehicle’s components to ensure the performances meet design specifications. Engineers focused on the sensitivity, stability, and efficiency of the traction motor and grinding units, using the vehicle’s control system for real-time data monitoring and making timely adjustments to any anomalies. After a series of rigorous tests and optimizations, the profiling turnout grinding vehicle successfully passed the acceptance review by the team of CRCC High-Tech Equipment Co. Ltd. with excellent performance across all metrics, and officially progressed to the final commissioning phase.
