On May 31, the 2024 National “Work Safety Month” launch ceremony was held in Beijing. As the only participant representing energy enterprises, Heidaigou Open-pit Coal Mine of Zhunneng Group made its appearance to the main session by video, fully showcasing its innovative technology-powered safety production achievements for extra-large open-pit mine.

During the presentation, Zhunneng Group utilized fixed cameras and drones to provide a comprehensive view of its technological achievements in safety production, including slope safety monitoring, intelligent mine construction, and remote control of 700-tonne face-shovel hydraulic excavators.

To address the risk of slope collapse, Heidaigou Open-pit Coal Mine has optimized slope design and established a three-tier defense mechanism comprising “design + monitoring + emergency response”. By employing three-dimensional real aperture radar and the Beidou slope monitoring system, it achieves round-the-clock monitoring. The slope monitoring radar, a crucial tool for ensuring coal mine safety, can continuously track slope displacement, providing real-time millimeter-level data. It is capable of swiftly identifying potential danger zones and accurately predicting the time and extent of landslides or slope failures, with early warnings issued 2 to 48 hours in advance, thus ensuring timely evacuation of personnel and equipment. Since its operation in 2009, the system’s early warning accuracy has reached 100%.

A range of technological achievements made an impressive debut during the event as well, including driverless trucks. As a benchmark for the nation’s first batch of intelligent demonstration coal mines, Heidaigou Coal Mine has employed a domestically developed driverless system, enabling the multi-formation driverless operation of 300-tonne mining trucks, with a cumulative safe mileage of 283,000 kilometers. Additionally, the Mine has pioneered the remote control of the country’s first 700-tonne face-shovel hydraulic excavator and adopted the unique “high bench cast-blasting + dragline stripping” technology, achieving the goals of “reducing manpower, increasing safety, and improving efficiency”. This advancement promotes the transition to personnel replacement under mechanized mining, manpower reduction under automated mining, and unmanned operation under intelligent mining, enhancing the intrinsic safety level of coal mines through intelligent construction.
