Huanghua Port was recently notified by China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association that its case “Practicing the Two Mountains Theory and Highlighting the Circular Economy—Building the Coal Port into a National 3A Scenic Resort through Low-carbon, Green and Innovative Development” had been listed among the 2022 national best practice cases for corporate green, low-carbon development. This is expected to give a better play to Huanghua Port’s exemplary role in green and low-carbon development.
The case “Practicing the Two Mountains Theory and Highlighting the Circular Economy—Building the Coal Port into a National 3A Scenic Resort through Low-carbon, Green and Innovative Development” focuses on introducing Huanghua Port’s successful practice and advanced experience in green, low-carbon and innovative development and fully demonstrates the company’s achievements in promoting coordinated development of its modern coal port and the natural ecosystem. In recent years, the company has adhered to the new development philosophy, actively explored effective models to realize the carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, and spared no efforts to advance the campaign to reduce pollution and carbon emission. It has built a full-process smart dust depression system, and put into practice innovative research results such as the long-effective dust suppression system, stockyard smart water curtain system, coal pollutant management system, and ecological intelligent monitoring system. By doing so, the port created an environmental protection brand featuring “zero exposure of coal in the transportation process and zero pollution in the loading and unloading process”. In addition, the company made all-out efforts to create a garden-like coal port. By implementing the project to achieve full vegetation coverage in coastal saline-alkali land, it has built an ecosystem comprised of “two lakes and three wetlands” and become the first coal port in China to be named a national 3A industrial tourism destination. Besides, it has earned prizes and honors such as “Green Port of Asia-Pacific”, “China Environment Award” and “Five-star Green Port of China”.
