As of March 22, the No. 43102 headgate belt conveyor in Yujialiang Mine of Shendong Coal Group had been running automatically for three months. The remote one-key start/stop system was proved reliable, and the belt operated smoothly, marking a new breakthrough in applying the results of innovation in the intelligent conveying system. The successful application of the automation technology reduces nine people of the workforce for the mine.

The unattended operation and remote surveillance of its headgate belt conveyor were achieved after the mine automated the operation of its main conveying system. The move was based on multiple rounds of technological tests and trials in accordance with the available manpower and production plan. It was also in line with the mine’s plan of transforming into a smart enterprise. Through a series of technological applications, the belt conveyor can be started or stopped remotely via an integrated control platform at the dispatch and command center. The unattended operation of the conveyor has saved the mine’s cost in manpower and advanced its efforts in going smart. It substantially alleviated the mine’s human resources constraints while improving efficiency.
