Since the start of this year, China Shenhua’s Shendong Coal has steadfastly adhered to the green development philosophy, systematically advancing ecological management of the mining area and surrounding afforestation and greening expansion initiatives. The Company has achieved notable progress in improving the quality and efficiency of ecological restoration, with a cumulative total of 14.63 square kilometers of land restored.
Shendong Coal has implemented comprehensive, systematic treatment within a 10-kilometer radius of the mining area, coordinating major ecological projects such as the restoration of the Wulanmulun River basin, remediation of coal mining subsidence zones, and integrated improvement of waste rock disposal sites. Focusing on the subsidence areas of key mines including Daliuta, Bu’ertai, Shigetai, and Jinjie, the Company adopts measures suited to local conditions and applies differentiated strategies. It precisely adopts restoration models such as artificially assisted natural recovery, ecological base establishment, and comprehensive upgrading, while scientifically deploying trees, shrubs, and herbaceous vegetation to create a multi-layered, composite, and resilient ecological greening system. As a result, vegetation coverage has continued to improve.
Over the long term, Shendong Coal has consistently embedded ecological conservation throughout its production and operations, deepened its ecological restoration practices in the mining area, and driven innovation in both technology and management models, establishing a full-life-cycle ecological prevention and control framework. In pursuit of the “dual carbon” goals, the Company has systematically implemented a suite of integrated governance models: phased, zoned ecological controls across the entire mining cycle; coordinated management of four water types for optimal resource utilization; a mining-and-remediation synchronized approach for all extraction methods; and a multi-layer vegetation system combining trees, shrubs, grasses, economic forests, shelterbelts, and landscape plantings. These measures have forged a closed-loop, phased ecological protection pattern strengthening the ecological security barrier function of the mining area. Through tangible action, Shendong Coal contributes to the ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin, fostering a virtuous cycle and mutual reinforcement between corporate advancement and environmental conservation.
