To thoroughly implement President Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological civilization and advance the ecological forest construction of CHN Energy and the ecological construction of Shendong Mining Area with practical actions, and to effectively enhance the company-wide awareness of ecological environment protection, on April 18th, employees of Shendong Coal conducted voluntary tree planting activities in two batches at the Shangwan Hongshiquan Ecological Base in Ulan Mulun Town and the Halagou Ecological Demonstration Base in Daliuta Town. About 800 participants from various units of the Company and local government departments engaged in the activity and planted more than 12,000 trees, including Mongolica Scotch Pines and Apricot trees. Their efforts contributed to expanding, revitalizing, and protecting greenery, and the construction of beautiful mining areas.
At the event site, professionals provided detailed guidance of planting methods and precautions with demonstration. Volunteers were divided into groups according to task assignments and worked together to plant Mongolica Scotch Pine and Apricot tree seedlings. They dug holes with spades, supported seedlings, filled soil, compacted the soil, and irrigated the surrounding area, adding a fresh touch of green to the spring landscape. Based on ecological governance, the Company fully considers the development of ecological industries and selects tree species that can bring certain economic benefits for planting.
This year marks the 43rd anniversary of the nationwide voluntary tree planting campaign, and also the 39th year of Shendong’s steadfast commitment to voluntary tree planting covering all employees. Over the past 40 years of development and construction in the Shendong Mining Area, various forms of voluntary tree planting have been innovated, making it one of the important ways to participate in ecological construction. Since 2000, more than 20,000 staff members have planted 217,200 trees during voluntary tree-planting activities, implementing the concept of green development through practical actions, continuously promoting the improvement of ecological environment quality, and facilitating the harmonious coexistence between human and nature.
