On October 15th, Liu Jianqing, a staff at Shuohuang Railway Company, received an honorary certificate from the Forest Police Brigade of Xingtang County Public Security Bureau, appreciating him for rescuing a Ciconia nigra, a bird under first-class state protection.
During his vacation, Liu Jianqing found an injured wildlife bird at the riverway edge of the Dasha River. Upon inspection, he realized that the bird was wounded in the wing, also in poor physical condition due to lack of water and food for a long time, and incapable of flying. He immediately fed the bird with potable water and food while contacting the local public security bureau. The forest police preliminarily identified the bird as Ciconia nigra, a rare species extremely low in numbers. Known as the "giant panda” among birds, it is a terrestrial animal under first-class state protection in China. The police paid full recognition and praise to this staff for his positive rescue of the protected animal, and took the injured Ciconia nigra away for professional treatment.
