China Energy Railway Equipment recently completed the autumn overhaul of the Datong-Zhungeer Railway. It tamped 88.055 km of ballast bed, cleaned 16 sets of switches, tamped 77 sets of switches, replaced 42.984 km of steel rails, relieved the stress of rails measuring 19.967 km in length, and welded 104 joints. The efforts ensured safe running of the railway line and contributed to China Energy’s drive of energy supply.
To accomplish the overhaul task in a safe and efficient manner, Railway Equipment made an elaborate plan, and strengthened coordination with the railway company. Technicians were sent to check the railway lines and clean obstacles that would affect the overhaul operation. The company strictly implemented the everyday and emergency duty systems, and convened daily briefings on the overhaul progress to spot problems regarding operation staff, COVID-19 prevention and control and the operation site and solve them accordingly. It gave full play to safety inspectors’ role in preventing safety accidents and worked to ensure full-coverage and faithful implementation of safety measures. It planned overhaul operation on a daily basis and in a targeted manner to avoid interfering in normal production and ensure the overhaul progress. The company also devoted greater efforts to screen potential safety hazards of equipment, and organized the crew to search for flaws with equipment inch by inch. It also adjusted the technical parameters of working devices based on the conditions of the line to ensure safe and highly efficient running of the equipment. The company also enhanced review of the qualification of contractors, training on operation safety and management of on-site operation to ensure contractors fulfilled their operation tasks in accordance with laws and regulations.
