As of August 23, the first integrated control platform for continuous roadway development had been in stable and safe trial operation for a month at Jinjie Mine of Shendong Coal, marking a major progress in the building of a smart roadway development system at the mine.

Integrating the power supply system, belt protection system and video monitoring system, the platform enables remote control of the feeder switch and the local fan as well as one-key start or stop of the conveyor. To prevent accidents caused by mis-operation, the platform offers key combination for starting and stopping the conveyor, and confirmation of the operator for remote switching. The platform will lock itself automatically when there is no operation for a certain span of time, thus ensuring safety in power supply. The integrated control platform also has functions like data storage, malfunction recording and operation logging, enabling operators to make well-informed decisions. In particular, with the function of operation logging, operators will know whether an action is ordered via the platform or caused by other factors.

“The platform is practical and easy to operate and maintain,” said Wang Hutang, an electromechanical technician from a continuous roadway development team. “We used to send an electrician to switch on or off the feeder power on the non-pedestrian side of the conveyor. The operation is much easier now. All you need to do is to click with the platform, which is much safer.”
