China Energy Baorixile Energy’s first patrol robot for extremely cold weather was put into trial operation on the No.208 belt conveyor in the company’s storage center. The robot is capable of patrolling the work site in a real-time and accurate manner. It symbolizes new progress in building a smart ground management system for the company’s open-pit coal mines.

Technicians check the patrol robot for belt conveyors in extremely cold weather in a control room.

The robot system comprises a robot body, wireless communication devices, charging devices, track platform and remote-control station. While in operation, the robot travels back and forth on a fixed route, featuring automated direction changing, stopping, fixed-point correction, automatic obstacle avoiding, speed detection and stagnation detection among other functions. It collects monitoring data of key parts including the actuating device, carrier roller and belt to provide information for operating technicians.

According to technicians, another three robots of this type are being installed on No.302 and No.402 belt conveyors, and are expected to begin a test run in late October.
