The project of key technologies for all-weather monitoring, smart operation and maintenance of heavy-haul railway was recently launched by China Energy Railway Equipment Company.
The core goals of the project center on the real-time monitoring of the railway routes and the research on technology-based operation and maintenance. A variety of advanced online monitoring devices have been installed on wagons to build a data center where data collected can be analyzed to support early warning of malfunctions and decision making for operation and maintenance. It is the first time that a domestic heavy-haul freight railway line has been fully monitored in all kinds of operating conditions and weather based on intelligent technologies. This will enable well-informed decision making for railway maintenance and warn railway operators on possible urgent malfunctions in real time, thus ensuring swift response to emergencies as well as safe and stable transportation.
